Palani is one of the six Arupadaiveedu, the chief abodes of Lord Murugan. The deity here is in the form of a medicine-giri, a stone idol said to be made of the medicinal earth of the hill itself.
An ancient Murugan shrine on a hillock; expanded by the Chera, Pandya and Vijayanagara dynasties.
