मंदिर के बारे में
Somnath is revered as the first of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva, set where the land of Gujarat meets the Arabian Sea. Its history is one of repeated destruction and resilient rebuilding, and the modern temple stands as a symbol of that endurance. The sea-facing sanctum and the unbroken horizon beyond it give the shrine an austere, elemental power.
An ancient coastal shrine razed and restored many times; the present temple was rebuilt after Independence and completed in 1951.
