Karya Sthana Vastu in Classical Texts and the Vayu-Kubera Prosperity Framework

The office or workspace — Karya Sthana or Vyapar Griha — is classified in Vastu Shastra as a zone requiring the maximum expression of Rajas Guna — the quality of dynamic activity, drive, and outward achievement. Unlike the bedroom (Tamas-Prithvi rest energy) or the pooja room (Sattva-Akasha spiritual energy), the workspace thrives on directed Vayu and Agni elements. The Manasara's Chapter 28 addresses commercial and administrative spaces: it prescribes the North direction as the master direction for all wealth-oriented activity, governed by Kubera — the divine treasurer — whose energy channel runs precisely along the North axis. The Mayamata extends this into practical spatial rules: the business owner's workstation must be in the Southwest of the office space, with the owner seated facing North or East. The Vishwakarma Prakash specifies that the Kubera Yantra — a copper plate engraved with the Kubera Mantra — must be installed on the North wall of any commercial space to activate the wealth channel. The Panchabhutas framework for the office: Vayu governs communication, networking, and mental acuity — the Northwest zone must be correctly managed to optimize Vayu. Agni governs ambition, sales energy, and competitive drive — the Southeast must be honored. Prithvi in the Southwest stabilizes leadership. Jala and Akasha in the North and Northeast bring clarity, intuition, and opportunity flow.
