मंदिर के बारे में
Kashi Vishwanath enshrines Shiva as Vishwanath, the Lord of the Universe, on the western bank of the Ganga in Varanasi. As one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines, it is among the most sacred destinations in the Shaiva tradition. Pilgrims come to bathe in the river and offer worship in the same breath, seeking liberation in the city said to grant it.
An ancient shrine destroyed and rebuilt many times; the present temple was raised in 1780 by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore.
