मंदिर के बारे में
The Mahabodhi temple at Bodh Gaya stands beside the descendant of the Bodhi tree under which Siddhartha Gautama became the Buddha. It is the holiest site in the Buddhist world and a destination for pilgrims and monks of every Buddhist tradition. The tall brick tower and the serene grounds make it a place of meditation as much as of pilgrimage.
A shrine first raised here by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE; the present brick temple dates to around the 5th–6th century CE.
