Sade Sati

साढ़े साती

The 7.5-year Saturn transit — the most closely watched planetary period in Vedic astrology.

Sade Sati (Hindi: 'seven and a half') is the 7.5-year period during which Saturn (Shani) transits through the 12th sign from the Moon sign, then the Moon sign itself, and then the 2nd sign from the Moon sign. Since Saturn spends approximately 2.5 years in each sign, the total transit across these three signs takes 7.5 years. Sade Sati is the most closely watched Saturn transit in Vedic astrology. It is associated with increased challenges, delays, hard work, and the testing of one's character and patience. However, it is also a period of deep karmic purification: what is removed during Sade Sati is typically what was holding the individual back from their true purpose. Saturn rewards sincere, disciplined effort — those who work hard, remain ethical, and serve others during Sade Sati often emerge from it with substantially more than they had before. The peak of Sade Sati is the middle phase — when Saturn is directly on the natal Moon sign — which is generally considered the most intense. Saturn moved from Aquarius into Pisces on Mar 29, 2025 and stays there through 2026, so Pisces Moon signs are in the peak of Sade Sati and Aquarius Moon signs in its final phase.

Sade Sati is a term in the Vedic astrology glossary.

FAQs

What is Sade Sati in Vedic astrology?

Sade Sati is the 7.5-year period when Saturn transits through the 12th house, the natal Moon sign, and the 2nd house from the natal Moon (2.5 years each). It is the most closely watched Saturn transit in Vedic astrology. While associated with challenges, delays, and increased responsibility, Sade Sati is fundamentally a period of karmic purification and character testing — those who maintain discipline and ethical conduct typically emerge stronger.

When is my Sade Sati?

Your Sade Sati begins when Saturn enters the sign just before your natal Moon sign. For example, if your Moon is in Aries, your Sade Sati begins when Saturn enters Pisces. Saturn spends approximately 2.5 years in each sign, so the full 7.5-year period covers the sign before your Moon, your Moon sign itself, and the sign after. Saturn has been in Pisces since Mar 29, 2025, which began Sade Sati for Aries Moon signs, put Pisces Moon signs in its peak, and started the final phase for Aquarius Moon signs.
