A varga, or divisional chart, divides each sign of your birth chart into equal parts and places every graha in one of them. The Navamsa divides each sign into nine, the Dashamsa into ten. Each division gives a new chart for one part of life.
The finer the division, the faster the chart changes. The D9 lagna moves about every 13 minutes and the D12 lagna about every 10, so these charts need your exact birth time.
Tradition reads a varga beside the birth chart, never alone. A graha that holds the same sign in D1 and D9 is called vargottama and is said to give its results fully.

About vargas, these free charts and your birth details.
A divisional chart, or varga, divides each sign of the birth chart into equal parts to read one part of life closely. Parashara names sixteen of them; this tool casts the five most read: D1, D7, D9, D10 and D12.
The Navamsa is read for marriage, the spouse and dharma. It also shows the inner strength of each graha: a graha well placed in the D9 is said to keep the promise it makes in the birth chart.
The Dashamsa is read for career, work and standing in the world. It shows the field of action, not a job title.
A graha is vargottama when it sits in the same sign in the birth chart and in the Navamsa. Tradition counts such a graha as strong and steady.
Yes. The lagna of a divisional chart can change within ten to fifteen minutes, so these charts need the time on your birth record. If you do not have it, ask an elder in your family.
