About this Chalisa
The Krishna Chalisa praises Shri Krishna — the eighth avatar of Vishnu, divine cowherd of Vrindavan, and teacher of the Bhagavad Gita. The forty chaupais describe his flute, his blue complexion (Shyam), his childhood leelas (divine play), and his role in the Mahabharata. It is recited on Janmashtami and Ekadashi.
