Hora Chart (D2)

The second divisional chart (D2) — divides each sign into two halves, used specifically to assess wealth, financial potential, and material accumulation.
Hora (Sanskrit: half — referring to half a sign; also connected to the Greek 'hora' for hour) is the D2 divisional chart in the Varga (divisional chart) system of Vedic astrology. Each zodiac sign (30°) is divided into two Horas of 15° each. The first half (0°–15°) of all odd signs (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius) falls in Leo Hora (Sun's sign), and the second half (15°–30°) falls in Cancer Hora (Moon's sign). For even signs (Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces), the first half falls in Cancer Hora and the second half in Leo Hora. The D2 chart (Hora) is used exclusively to judge financial potential — the placement of planets (especially the ascendant lord, 2nd house lord, Jupiter, and Venus) in the Hora shows the overall inclination toward wealth accumulation. Planets in Leo Hora are considered stronger for wealth earned by initiative and authority; planets in Cancer Hora support wealth through nurturing, real estate, and family inheritance. This is one of the 16 main divisional charts (Shodashavarga) described in BPHS.
